Our Mission 

The Berkeley County Historical Society is a

focus group dedicated to the preservation

and perpetuation of history in Berkeley

​County, West Virginia.  

ARCHIVES AND RESEARCH CENTER HOURS

The Archives and Research Center is open by appointment only.
Please call or email two weeks in advance so that a research assistant will be available to assist you.
We are an ALL VOLUNTEER organization.

Loan Items From Former Exhibits
 
The Belle Boyd House Museum exhibits have changed over the last few years.  We have many unclaimed loans from those earlier years. If you have loaned us items over the years please call or email to make arrangements to pick up your property.  We are grateful for the loans and will be asking for short-term loans for future exhibits.  Please contact:  Carol Appenzellar, Curator/Collections Manager, 304-267-4713, curator@bchs.org.

Our Goals

  • Develop the Belle Boyd House as an education center
  • Create a depository for historical papers and materials
  • Restore and protect the artifacts, documents, and manuscripts
  • Write, research, publish and continue to develop architectural and genealogical materials for public access
  • Catalog and document all artifacts and items donated or loaned to the Berkeley County Historical Society.
